Naturopathy FAQs: Your top questions answered.

What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a patient-centred and holistic approach to health that focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to heal. It combines evidence-informed natural therapies, nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and preventative care to address the root causes of health concerns rather than simply managing symptoms.

What conditions can I help support, as a naturopath?

As a naturopath, I take a holistic and personalised approach to health, focusing on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of symptoms — not just managing them. I use evidence-informed natural therapies, nutrition, lifestyle support, and herbal medicine to help support your overall wellbeing.

I have a particular interest in women’s health and support clients through all stages of life, including hormonal imbalances, irregular periods, PMS, PCOS, fertility support, and menopause. Whether you’re struggling with hot flushes, mood changes, poor sleep, weight gain, or low energy, I work with you to create an individualised plan that supports hormonal balance and helps you feel your best.

I also commonly support clients with:

  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Digestive complaints such as bloating, reflux, IBS, and food sensitivities
  • Stress management and mental wellbeing
  • Sleep issues and insomnia
  • Weight management and metabolic health
  • Skin concerns including acne and eczema
  • Immune system support
  • Nutritional deficiencies and general wellbeing

Every person is different, which is why I tailor my recommendations to your unique health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. I aim to provide practical, sustainable support that helps you improve your health and feel more balanced, energised, and well.

How do online consultations work?

Consultations are conducted via video call from the comfort of your home, at a time that works best for you. After booking your appointment, you’ll complete a health questionnaire so we can make the most of our time together. Your information is always kept secure and confidential.

Your Initial consultation over a video call will last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to get a comprehensive picture of your health and identify your health goals.

A few days after your consultation, you will receive your personalised treatment plan, which will include nutritional recommendations, lifestyle strategies, and, if needed, testing recommendations. I will schedule a call with you to talk you through your treatment plan. You can also contact me anytime with any questions or queries.

If supplements or herbal treatments are prescribed, a script will be made for you online via Natural Script. When your custom script is ready, you will be notified. Simply log in and order online, and your items will be shipped to you.

A follow-up appointment is typically booked two weeks after receiving your treatment plan.

Can I work with you alongside my doctor or specialist?

Absolutely. Naturopathy works very well alongside conventional medical care. I encourage an integrative approach and collaboration with your healthcare team to ensure you receive optimised care and well-rounded support.

Do you offer functional testing?

Depending on your needs, functional testing may be recommended. This could include hormone, gut health, nutritional, or stress-related testing through reputable laboratories. However, it is not always necessary.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your health goals and the complexity of your concerns. As Naturopathy is about addressing the root cause rather than simply masking symptoms, chronic conditions can take some time. I understand that you may have a busy schedule, and a follow-up appointment may not be possible every second week. I aim to keep my sessions as flexible as possible to best meet your needs.

How can a naturopath support women’s reproductive health?

As a naturopath, I support women’s reproductive health by taking a holistic and personalised approach to hormonal balance, menstrual health, fertility, and overall wellbeing. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I aim to understand the underlying factors that may be contributing to hormonal or reproductive health concerns.

Many women seek naturopathic support for issues such as irregular or painful periods, PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility challenges, acne, mood changes, fatigue, and symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. I work with you to create an individualised treatment plan that may include nutrition support, herbal medicine, lifestyle recommendations, stress management, and targeted supplementation where appropriate.

Reproductive health is closely connected to other areas of health, including digestion, sleep, stress levels, blood sugar balance, and nutrient status. By supporting the body as a whole, naturopathy can help improve hormone balance, energy, mood, menstrual regularity, and overall quality of life.

Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, managing PCOS, navigating menopause, or simply wanting to feel more balanced and supported in your health, naturopathic care can provide practical and evidence-informed support tailored to your individual needs.

Can Naturopathy help with hormone imbalance?

Many women seek naturopathic support for symptoms associated with hormone imbalance, including irregular periods, PMS, painful periods, acne, mood changes, fatigue, bloating, and cycle irregularities. A personalised approach aims to identify contributing factors and support hormonal health naturally.

Do you support women with PCOS?

Absolutely, my own experience with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) led me to embark on a career as a naturopath, so it’s an area that I am very passionate about. As a naturopath, there is a lot that we can do to support PCOS through supporting hormone balance, blood sugar regulation, inflammation, skin health, weight management, cycle regularity, and fertility support through evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle strategies. It’s also vital to address metabolic symptoms to promote overall general health and reduce health risk factors.

Can Naturopathy help with painful and irregular periods?

Yes — naturopathy can help support women experiencing painful, irregular, or heavy periods by taking a holistic approach to hormonal and reproductive health. As a naturopath, I look at the underlying factors that may be contributing to menstrual symptoms rather than simply masking them.

Painful or irregular periods can be influenced by a range of factors, including hormonal imbalances, stress, PCOS, endometriosis, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, blood sugar imbalances, and lifestyle factors. Through a personalised consultation, I will assess your health history, symptoms, cycle patterns, nutrition, sleep, stress levels, and overall wellbeing to develop an individualised treatment plan to target your menstrual health concerns.

Do you provide fertility support?

As a naturopath, I support fertility by taking a holistic and personalised approach to reproductive health, hormone balance, and overall wellbeing. Fertility can be influenced by many factors including nutrition, stress, sleep, hormonal health, digestive function, lifestyle, and underlying conditions such as PCOS or irregular menstrual cycles. My role is to help support your body and optimise your health in preparation for conception.

When supporting fertility, I look at the bigger picture — including menstrual cycle health, ovulation, energy levels, stress, nutrition, and any symptoms that may indicate hormonal imbalances or nutrient deficiencies. I create individualised treatment plans tailored to your unique needs and health history.

Can you support me during perimenopause or menopause?

Yes, absolutely. You do not need to navigate it alone! Hormonal changes during this stage of life can affect many areas of health, including energy, mood, sleep, weight, metabolism, skin, and overall wellbeing. My approach focuses on supporting your body holistically and helping you feel more balanced, supported, and confident through the transition.

Many women seek naturopathic support for symptoms such as:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats
  • Mood changes, anxiety, and irritability
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Sleep disturbances and insomnia
  • Weight gain and metabolic changes
  • Brain fog and poor concentration
  • Irregular or heavy periods
  • Low libido and vaginal dryness
  • Joint aches, headaches, and digestive changes

During consultations, I take the time to understand your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, stress levels, nutrition, and hormonal health to create an individualised treatment plan tailored to your needs.

What symptoms might indicate a hormonal imbalance?

Many symptoms may indicate a hormonal imbalance. Common symptoms may include:

  • Irregular or painful periods
  • PMS or mood swings
  • Acne or skin changes
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Weight fluctuations
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Hair thinning
  • Low libido
  • Fertility challenges
How does gut health affect hormones?

While gut health is at the core of good health, it can have a very prominent impact on hormones. Gut health plays a key role in hormone balance, nutrient absorption, inflammation, and detoxification pathways. Digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, reflux, or food sensitivities may impact overall hormonal health and well-being.
